The aim of this project is to reconstruct the Italian reception of the Hussite movement and trace its historical development from its initial condemnation at the Council of Constance (1414) to the first historiographical work on the subject produced in Italy, the Historia Bohemica of Aeneas Silvius Piccolomini (1455). While the Hussite movement has been extensively studied, its reception within the Italian context and among Italian historical actors remains relatively underexplored in international historiography. The project therefore investigates how perceptions and interpretations of Hussitism developed across different Italian milieus and among diverse historical actors within this chronological framework.
