My project aims to propose the production of a critical edition and English translation of Nāropa’s text, known as the Pañcakramasaṃgrahaprabhāva, along with its commentary by Tsongkhapa, titled dpal gsang ba’dus pa’i rdzogs rim rim lnga gdan rdzogs gi dmar khrid. Studying these texts in depth will help to illuminate the tradition of the Six Yogas of Nāropa (na ro’i chos drug), which holds significant doctrinal, monastic, and yogic importance in the history of Tibetan Buddhism. The research seeks to shed new light on the work of key figures like Nāropa and Tsongkhapa, offer new critical insights into the Guhyasamāja Tantra tradition, exploring its transmission history, key texts, and doctrinal content. Ultimately, the research will contribute to a deeper understanding of the fundamental transition of tantric teachings from India to Tibet, illuminating a crucial period in Buddhist intellectual and spiritual history.
