This research project investigates the relationship between religion and sovereignity in Jean Bodin’s work; in particular, this project is focused on “The Six Books of the Commonwealth”, Bodin’s most famous book, in which Bodin wrote his famous definition of sovereignity. The aim of the project is also to determine whether the concept of sovereignity could be read under “theological political” paradigm, whether it is instead the culmination of the medieval debate debate the temporal and spiritual swords, or whether the Angevin’s theorization depends by pragmatical issues dictated by time in which Bodin lived.
