Davide Dainese

Davide Dainese is Associate Professor, qualified as Full Professor, in the History of Christianity and the Churches at the University of Bologna. His research focuses on early Christianity—especially Patristics, Gnosticism, and the Alexandrian tradition—and broader themes like conciliar history, political theology, and the reception of Church Fathers. He leads the PRIN2022 project Resilient Septuagint and is Deputy Coordinator of the MA in Religions, History, Culture. He earned his MA (2005) and PhD (2009) at the University of Padua and held research positions in Würzburg, Smith College (MA), and Berkeley (CA). Dainese has edited volumes of the Conciliorum Oecumenicorum Generaliumque Decreta (Brepols), coordinated Treccani’s Enciclopedia Costantiniana, and led editorial work for the Dizionario Biografico degli Italiani. He has held various academic roles at Bologna and directed the G. Dossetti Library. He received the “Marilena Amerise 2010” prize and FFABR 2017 funding. He is a member of the Fondazione per le Scienze Religiose, AIEP/IAPS, G.I.R.O.T.A., and serves on the board of ASSRI.
