Cristiana Facchini

Cristiana Facchini is Full Professor of History of Christianity and the Churches at the University of Bologna. Her research focuses on modern and contemporary religious history, Jewish-Christian relations, religious minorities, and theories of religion. She holds a degree in Political Science from the University of Bologna and a PhD in Jewish Studies from the University of Turin. She has studied and conducted research in Oxford, Jerusalem, Paris, Cincinnati, and New York. She became Associate Professor in 2006 and Full Professor in 2020. She teaches across undergraduate and graduate programs and has held visiting positions in Bielefeld, Haifa, and other international institutions. She has participated in numerous national and international research projects, including ERC, DFG, and PRIN, and is PI of a project on Jewish books and Catholic censorship funded by the Rothschild Foundation. She is Editor-in-Chief of Quest – Issues in Contemporary Jewish History and serves on the boards of several journals and editorial series. She is involved in various academic and institutional committees, including the CDEC Foundation, the Interreligious Museum of Bertinoro, and the Biblioteca Dossetti. She has held multiple departmental roles, including program coordinator and delegate for international relations, and manages several Erasmus exchanges.
