Beatrice Serra

Beatrice Serra was graduated (cum Laude) in Law from La Sapienza University of Rome on October 26th, 2000 with a dissertation in Canon Law. Since 2000, she was a research fellow in Canon and Ecclesiastical Law at the Istituto di Diritto Pubblico at Sapienza University of Rome. In 2005 she got a Ph.D. in Canon Law and Law, State and Religion from Sapienza University of Rome. Since November 2002 she is a Researcher in Canon and Ecclesiastical Law (IUS/11) at Sapienza University of Rome and she joined the Law Faculty and the Dipartimento di Studi Giuridici, Filosofici ed Economici (DIGEF) of that university where she carries out her teaching and research activities. In 2013 she received the national professorship habilitation in Canon and Ecclesiastical Law by MIUR (Italian Ministry of Education, University and Research), and since 2015 she is an Associate Professor at DIGEF (Sapienza University). Since 2007, she is a member of the Academic Board of the Ph.D. program “Teoria degli Ordinamenti Giuridici” of Sapienza University of Rome. In 2010 she was principal investigator in the research project “Scuola pubblica, religione e laicità dello Stato nel contesto di una società multiculturale e multireligiosa” funded by Sapienza University of Rome. Her research activity, documented by different publications, concerns both studies on Canon Law and Law, State and Religion, with particular emphasis on the aspects of general theory of these disciplines.
