Demetrio Giordani is Associate Professor of History of Islamic Countries and teaches Culture and History of Islamic Countries and Language Culture Institutions of Arab Language Countries in the Department of Linguistics and Cultural Studies at the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia. His research revolves around history, doctrines, and practices of early Sufism. He also focused his study on Sufism in the Indian Subcontinent. On these specific themes, he has published papers, books and translations from Arabic and Persian.
He is also currently a member of the Istituto per l’Oriente C.A Nallino di Roma (IPO), a member of the Istituto di Studi sul Mediterraneo e l’Oriente (ISMEO), and also a member of the Muhyiddin Ibn ‘Arabi Society (MIAS Latina).
