

Piero Capelli is Professor of Hebrew in the Department of Asian and North African Studies at Ca’ Foscari University of Venice. He is editor-in-chief of Henoch, international journal of studies in ancient and medieval Judaism and Christianity, and a member of the scientific boards of several other academic journals. Since 2020, he has been president of the scientific committee of Biblia and a corresponding member of the Class of Letters and Arts of the Accademia Roveretana degli Agiati. His field of inquiry is the history of texts and ideas in late antique and medieval Judaism – particularly in rabbinic texts in Hebrew and Aramaic and in the apocrypha and pseudepigrapha in Greek – as well as the polemics between Judaism and Christianity through to the Middle Ages.
